The 2026 BMW iX: More Power, a Fresh Look, and a Lower Price

BMW is making big moves with the 2026 iX, introducing a new entry-level model, increasing power across the lineup, and refining the SUV’s design—all while lowering the starting price by over $10,000 compared to previous years. Set to arrive in mid-2025, the updated iX lineup offers more range, enhanced efficiency, and a bold new look.

Lower Cost, More Choices

For 2026, BMW is restructuring the iX lineup, making it more accessible to EV buyers. The previous base model, the xDrive50, is being replaced by the all-new xDrive45, which starts at $76,325—a significant price drop from last year’s entry point. The new xDrive60 sits in the middle of the lineup at $89,675, while the range-topping M70 xDrive now starts at $112,675.

More Power, More Range

BMW isn’t just lowering prices—it’s also optimizing performance. While the new xDrive45 delivers 402 horsepower (down from last year’s xDrive50), it still offers impressive acceleration, reaching 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The xDrive60 gets a boost to 536 horsepower, a 20-hp increase over the previous xDrive50, while the high-performance M70 xDrive now generates a staggering 650 horsepower, 40 more than before.

Enhanced efficiency plays a major role in this refresh. Thanks to silicon carbide semiconductors and a new battery generation, range estimates have improved by roughly 10%. The new models offer the following range estimates:

• xDrive45 – 312 miles per charge
• xDrive60 – 340 miles per charge
• M70 xDrive – 302 miles per charge

Larger battery capacities contribute to these gains, with the xDrive45 packing 100.1 kWh, the xDrive60 featuring 113.4 kWh, and the M70 equipped with 112.8 kWh.

Refreshed Design for 2026

Visually, the 2026 BMW iX gets subtle yet effective updates. The front grille has been simplified, moving away from the intricate design of past models in favor of cleaner, more refined lines. The headlights also see a redesign, swapping thin horizontal elements for bold vertical beams.

For those opting for the M70 xDrive or adding the M Sport Package, the rear end now features an integrated diffuser, giving the SUV a sportier and more aggressive stance.

Inside, the optional M Sport Package brings a sportier feel with M-branded seats, an M leather steering wheel, M pedals, and a two-tone instrument panel.

Arrival and Availability

Production of the refreshed 2026 BMW iX begins in March 2025, with deliveries expected in the second quarter of the year. With its blend of lower pricing, improved range, and performance upgrades, the new iX is set to make waves in the luxury EV market.
